The Vermont Senior Games Association (VSGA) completed the 2017 State Tennis Championship on Sunday August 27th at the Quechee Club in Quechee, Vermont.
There are many elements to a successful tournament. The weather cooperated and we had 26 players from all over Vermont as well as Connecticut and Florida participate in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Many were veteran participants and there were new faces too!
A big shout out needs to go to Chuck Kinyon, Director of Tennis at the Quechee Club and the club itself. The Club’s tennis courts are pristine and located in a beautiful setting (and close to the I89 for easy access). Players also enjoyed the amenities (bathrooms, shower, pro shop, snack bar) and the friendly and helpful staff. The club shows their support for the VSGA by charging just a nominal fee to use their facility. This means that we are able to keep the registration fees for the Tournament more accessible. We would not be able to play at the Quechee Club without Chuck’s support for VSGA – THANK YOU Chuck!
The Board of VSGA also wants to extend a sincere thank you to Donna Griffin, Tennis Sport Coordinator, who did such a great job of organizing the flights and attending to the many details that make a great tournament.
The greatest measure of our success and music to our ears was the repeated refrain from many participants of “See you next year!” We can’t wait!!!
